“The Golden Bachelor” star Gerry Turner melted hearts early on in the season with his tearful recollection of his wife Toni’s death.
Family is clearly important to the septuagenarian — Gerry’s two daughters with Toni, as well as his granddaughters, are featured on this season of “The Golden Bachelor.” In fact, his offspring even give him some dating advice, as shown in promos for Gerry’s season.
And in Thursday’s finale, Gerry’s last two women Leslie Fhima and Theresa Nist will both be meeting his family before he makes his final choice.
Here’s everything you need to know about Gerry’s family.
Gerry Turner has two daughters and two granddaughters
As he revealed early on in “The Golden Bachelor,” Gerry and his first wife, Toni, fell in love in high school and later tied the knot in 1974. They were married for over 40 years, but sadly, Toni died of an infection in 2017, shortly after she and Gerry retired and moved into their dream home.
Toni and Gerry had two daughters together: Angie Warner and Jenny Young. While Angie and Jenny have remained largely out of the spotlight, aside from a few appearances on promos for the show, Gerry revealed in a past interview that they were the ones who encouraged him to apply in the first place.
“I was feeling kind of down on my luck and I saw the ad, and I mentioned it to my daughters. They’re big fans of the show, and they kind of got me watching the show and they said, ‘Dad, you should do it,'” Gerry told Variety in August.
Jenny also has two daughters, 21-year-old Payton and 16-year-old Charlee. They’ve also remained largely out of the spotlight, but Charlee gushed about her grandpa in an August promo for the show.
Gerry also told Variety that his family members were “genuinely excited and thrilled” for him as he embarked on his journey to find love. His granddaughters in particular, Gerry revealed, were amused at his lack of social-media knowledge going into the season, but regularly sent him supportive messages.
And overall, Gerry was confident that Toni would be supportive of his new search for love.
“Over time, I got to realize that I think she would be an encouraging supporter,” he said of Toni. “We talked about it when we were alive that we both wanted the other to be happy if one of us passed, and we established our financial setup that way.”
“This is the way it should be,” he added.
