After five stellar seasons, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the streaming series on Amazon Prime Video, comes to an end tonight. It’s time to say goodbye to Midge, her fabulous wardrobe, her brilliant supporting cast and some of the most enjoyable TV ever made.
Saying Goodbye to Mrs. Maisel
With an impressive cast that includes Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel; Alex Borstein as Susie Myerson; Michael Zegen as Joel Maisel; Marin Hinkle as Rose Weissman; Tony Shalhoub as Abe Weissman; Caroline Aaron as Shirley Maisel and Kevin Pollack as Moishe Maisel, the show lives up to its name.
The show introduced us to and turned Rachel Brosnahan (and Alex Borstein) into stars, brought us the phrase “Tits Up!” and shared with us American midcentury sexism, religion, family, food and show business with heart and humor.
Rachel Brosnahan, as Midge, won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress, two Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards, among other accolades.
While we wish it weren’t ending, here are a few fun and poignant photos shared by actress Rachel Brosnahan on her instagram feed from over the years with which to remember the show by.
Of her time on the show, actress Rachel Brosnahan says “This marvelous adventure changed my life in more ways than I can count. I met some of the greatest people I’ve ever known and now get call them family, mentors and friends. I went to television boot camp and learned how to be a better performer, leader and producer. I wore stunningly beautiful clothes, ate an embarrassing amount of prop food, got the middle finger from Alex daily. I grew up. I laughed til I cried and cried til I laughed.”– Instagram
The Clothes!
Midge’s wardrobe was to die for. Thousands say they watched the show for the clothes.
Madly Marvelous is a recently published hardcover book about the wonderful fashion designs for the show from the Emmy-winning costumer Donna Zakowska and a great way to remember it. Buy it here
The photos on the piano in Midge’s home changed with each season, the photo below is from the final and fifth season.
The relationship between Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) and Midge lasts over 5 decades in the show.
For those who didn’t know, character Mike Carr is played by Jason Ralph, Rachel Brosnahan’s real-life husband since 2016.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude and will be for a long, long time. Tits up to the final chapter. – Rachel Brosnahan, Instagram
The wonderful show has inspired band launched officially licensed products such as a Vintage Tupperware collection, a Hasbro board game and other fun gifts.
We will miss you Midge.
