This beautiful Hong Kong Ballet short film, and the accompanying photography, were made to promote the new Tutu Academy, the company’s first ever ballet school. The campaign, conceived of by Design Army and executed by several talented people and crew, is visually breathtaking.
Hong Kong Ballet Campaign
For the 45th anniversary of Hong Kong Ballet and the opening of its first ballet academy, Washington D.C.’s Design Army conceived of a unique and inventive campaign that celebrates the universal language of dance.
Choreographer Septime Webre and director/photographer Dean Alexander bring Design Army’s wacky and wonderful vision to life by reimagining classic ballet in a way you’ve never seen.
Infused with Hong Kong culture, the short film also draws inspiration from Degas’ ballerina portraits, the Renaissance, Hip, Hop and science-fiction classics. Directed by Dean Alexander, who also took the photos, the 3 minute short film takes you on an unconventional, joyful journey connecting to dance’s unearthly magic.
The program for the 2024-2025 Hong Kong ballet season was also designed by Design Army and can be seen in its entirety here.
