Let’s take a look at Ray Monohan’s 2024 Week 9 NFL Power Rankings for the 2024 season.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (7-0)

Believe it or not, the Chiefs haven’t been 7-0 in the Patrick Mahomes era, last holding that record in 2013. And as good as they’ve been, they may have only just unlocked Travis Kelce, who recorded his first touchdown of the season this past weekend. The offense still isn’t as explosive as many expected it would be entering the season, but they just keep finding ways to win behind their rock solid defense.

2. Detroit Lions (6-1)

Fresh off a blowout of the Titans, the Lions may be the hottest team in football at the moment. Their offense is humming on all cylinders, and their defense is making some big plays in the secondary. They’re built to win games indoors and that’s where they’ll play most of their football the rest of the regular season.

3. Buffalo Bills (6-2)

Buffalo hadn’t really beaten a quality opponent this season, but they changed that Sunday when they went into Seattle and beat the Seahawks. Josh Allen is looking like an MVP candidate, and the addition of Amari Cooper is only going to help that as he makes additional space for the likes of Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir.

4. Green Bay Packers (6-2)

All the football Malik Willis has been asked to play could have really put Green Bay behind the proverbial eight-ball in the standings – instead, the former Titan has just about saved the Packers’ season. It doesn’t sound like Jordan Love will miss additional time with this latest injury – which is good news for Packer fans.

5. Houston Texans (6-2)

It hasn’t always been pretty, but the Texans are now 6-2, and C.J. Stroud has been able to weather injuries at the wide receiver position to keep the offense moving. The home-road splits are nothing to write home about, and the offensive line will need to do a much better job of protecting their franchise quarterback or they’ll be out of the postseason as soon as they run into a dominant pass rush.

6. Washington Commanders (6-2)

Washington’s unlikely start to the season continued in miraculous fashion with a successful Hail Mary pass to shock the Bears. Jayden Daniels does not look like a rookie and just keeps finding ways to make plays in crucial moments, and Dan Quinn’s defense has been much better than expected.

7. Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)

The Eagles snapped out of a funk and showed glimpses of their 2022 form after a slow start against the Bengals. If they can keep playing like that on both sides of the ball with some consistency, they are as good as any team in football.

8. Baltimore Ravens (5-3)

The Ravens’ flaws were on display in Cleveland, starting with the team’s struggles in pass protection. They’ve also had so many top defensive coaches poached away into roles with other teams, and that may have finally caught up with them. Perhaps the front office can make some moves to bolster the defensive secondary and pass rush to load up for a playoff run.

9. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

The Steelers find themselves atop the AFC North as Mike Tomlin’s dice roll switch to Russell Wilson at quarterback has paid off. The team’s running game and defense are the key catalysts, but the Wilson story sure makes for a great headline.

10. Minnesota Vikings (5-2)

The Vikings’ storybook start to the season is hanging on by a thread. They have an extended rest to get things back on track, but their prospects are somewhat concerning with left tackle Christian Darrisaw now out for the season with a knee injury.
