A LaGrange police officer has been arrested on multiple charges after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from and elderly citizen, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The GBI said Saturday that Joshua Clower, a 43-year-old lieutenant in the Lagrange Police Department, was arrested and charged with theft by taking, theft by conversion and exploitation of an elderly person over the age of 65.
LPD asked the GBI on June 25 to investigate an allegation that Clower had committed theft.
The GBI said the investigation shows Clower stole more than $7,000 from an elderly citizen’s checking account and used the money for his own personal use.
Clower was booked into the Troup County Jail, the GBI said.
“The GBI will continue its independent investigation,” the GBI said.
