Titans vs. Saints Gameday

Get ready for a thrilling Week 3 showdown as the New Orleans Saints (1-1) take on the undefeated Tennessee Titans (2-0) at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, August 25th. This game promises to be a nail-biter, with both teams looking to make a statement before the regular season kicks off.

There was just one meeting between the Titans and Saints last year, with the Saints coming out on top 16-15. The Saints were -2.5 point favorites and even though the Titans lost, they covered the spread.

The game saw a combined total of 31 points, which was below the over/under line of 41.5 points.

Tennessee Titans

Despite trailing early, the Titans came back to beat the Seahawks 16-15, improving to 2-0 in the pre-season. Seattle led 6-0 after the 1st quarter, and although Tennessee scored in the 2nd, they still trailed 12-7 at halftime. The Titans took their first lead of the game with 7:58 remaining in the 4th quarter, as Brayden Narveson connected on a 59-yard field goal, making the score 15-12 in their favor. However, the Titans couldn’t hold on, as the Seahawks kicked a late field goal with two minutes left and then added another field goal to win it as time expired.

Heading into the game, the Titans were +1 point underdogs, and their 1-point victory meant they covered the spread. The combined 31 points was just under the total line of 35.5 points.

Tennessee Titans Stats

The Titans’ offense had a tough time on third down, converting just 33.3% of their chances and being sacked three times in their 16-15 win over the Seahawks. Tennessee finished with 23 first downs and 222 passing yards. Mason Rudolph was the leading passer with 125 yards, going 10/17 and throwing one touchdown. He was not sacked and finished with a passer rating of 101.

Julius Chestnut was the leading rusher with 45 yards, averaging 3.5 yards per attempt, with a long run of 22 yards. Jha’Quan Jackson led the team with 57 receiving yards, including a 24-yard reception.

In the Titans’ 16-15 win over the Seahawks, their defense allowed just 12 first downs and limited Seattle to 239 total yards. They defended the run well, giving up only 2 rushing first downs and 64 rushing yards on 18 attempts. Against the pass, the Titans allowed 175 yards, with one touchdown, and held Seattle to a 22.2% third-down conversion rate.

Tennessee’s defense also recorded three sacks in the game, although they lost the turnover battle and the quarterback hit differential.

New Orleans Saints

Despite taking an early 7-0 lead on a Taysom Hill touchdown in the 2nd quarter, the Saints fell behind the 49ers and lost by a score of 16-10, dropping their record to 1-1. New Orleans battled back to 13-10 in the 3rd quarter with a 52-yard field goal from Blake Grupe, but the 49ers added a field goal in the 4th, and the Saints couldn’t respond in the final period.

The Saints were the underdogs by +1 point in this one, and the 26 combined points were lower than the 38.5-point over/under line. New Orleans missed a chance to take the lead in the 3rd quarter when the 49ers missed a 51-yard field goal, but they couldn’t capitalize, and the 49ers retook the lead for good with a field goal in the 4th.

New Orleans Saints Stats

The Saints’ offense is coming off a game in which they struggled to move the ball through the air, finishing with just 137 passing yards in their 16-10 loss to the 49ers. New Orleans managed only 19 first downs and 134 yards on the ground, averaging 3.8 yards per attempt. Their inability to convert on third down was a key issue, as they were just 1 of 11 (9.1%).

Jake Haener, who went 7/13 for 76 yards, was the top passer for the Saints. Haener didn’t lead the team in rushing, as that honor went to Jordan Mims with 37 yards on 10 carries. Mason Fairchild was the top receiver with 31 yards, and the Saints did not find the endzone through the air.

In the Saints’ 16-10 loss to the 49ers, their defense allowed 20 first downs and 315 total yards. San Francisco had 43 passing attempts but managed only 222 yards through the air, with New Orleans holding them to 58.1% completions and no passing touchdowns.

New Orleans defended well on third downs, allowing the 49ers to convert only 33.3% of their third-down attempts. The Saints also recorded two sacks and limited the 49ers to 93 rushing yards. Despite this, New Orleans struggled to force turnovers, losing the turnover battle with a -1 differential.

4* Free Week 3 NFL Betting Prediction: Tennessee -3.5

The Titans, surprising many with their perfect preseason record, have been rock-solid on defense, allowing just 14.5 points per game. While the regular season might hold modest expectations for Tennessee, they’ve shown a fierce competitive edge in these early matchups.

On the other side, the Saints, historically strong in the preseason against the Titans, are at a crossroads, possibly inching toward a rebuild faster than anticipated. With the spread favoring Tennessee by 3.5 points, and a moneyline of -187, the betting world is leaning toward a Titans win, but don’t sleep on New Orleans at +154.

The total set at 34.5 suggests a low-scoring affair, but with preseason unpredictability, anything can happen. As always, stay sharp, and keep those bets strategic for what’s sure to be an intense clash in New Orleans!

Our pick vs. the spread is to take the Titans to cover as road favorites. The point spread lines have the Titans at -3.5 favorites over the Saints, and we have them winning by a score of 20-10.

For this week three pre-season matchup, we also like the under for the over/under line, with a projected combined score of 30 points, just below the O/U line of 34.5 points.
