The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Richmond Raceway for the Toyota Owners 400 this weekend. With a name and sponsor like Toyota this week, it’s no surprise to see Toyota drivers loading up the top of the leaderboard. Joe Gibbs Racing has dominated short ovals so far this season, and their four drivers make up the top four names on the betting board this week, as Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Martin Truex Jr., and Ty Gibbs are the top four in oddsmakers’ eyes this week.
Hamlin and Bell are the co-favorites as the two names atop the betting board this week. Each has already won a Cup Series race this season on tracks that were a mile or shorter in length, with those wins coming in Phoenix and Bristol. Truex and Gibbs haven’t won a race yet, but they’re pushing, and rank first and second respectively in the Cup Series standings after the first six races.
NASCAR Betting
Kyle Larson is the next name on the board and the highest ranked of the non-Gibbs cars this week. He won this race a year ago. Next is RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher, who won the Richmond race last fall, and Larson’s Hendrick teammate William Byron, who has back-to-back wins at Las Vegas and Phoenix this season.
Tyler Reddick won in Austin on the road track last week. He won three races in 2022 and followed each of those up with finishes of 29th, 29th, and 28th in the three races that followed each victory.
NASCAR 2024 Toyota Owners 400 Race Odds: Denny Hamlin +425
This week sets up well for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota, and that means Denny Hamlin can’t be overlooked. He’s won at this track four times in his career. He’s atop the leaderboard so we’re not getting great odds, but he’s the guy to look at for the win, even ahead of his teammate Christopher Bell at the same odds, despite Bell starting hotter this season.
NASCAR 2024 Toyota Owners 400 Race Odds: Martin Truex Jr. +600
Truex had struggled for the majority of his career on short tracks, but he broke through in the 2019 season when he won both events at Richmond, and also picked up the first of his now three wins at Martinsville. In 2020 he won at Martinsville for the second time, and in 2021 he won Martinsville for the third time, and picked up a win at Phoenix. He’s now on a 50-race winless streak, with his last win coming at Richmond in 2021. It’d be nice to get better odds on him, but he’s been running well and this could be a nice breakout spot.

NASCAR Odds: Kyle Busch +1500
It’s a favorable price for Busch this week. He’s the active leader in wins at Richmond with six victories, and five of those have come in the spring. He’s finished in the top 10 in 10 straight races on this track, and his finished inside the top 5 more times (18) than not in 34 career starts here.
NASCAR Odds: Ryan Blaney +1500
Blaney hasn’t come away with a victory since the August Daytona race in 2021, which is quite the drought at 52 races. He’s been known to start strong and then fall back. Perhaps this is the week he can run a complete race and take the checkered flag.
NASCAR Odds: Joey Logano +2200
Another Team Penske driver to take a look at is Logano, who is the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, winning four races last year, including on the short-track at Phoenix. And he already has a win to his name this year, taking the checkered flag in Atlanta.
