You Can Set Up Parental Controls On Snapchat

Snapchat’s Family Center also offers a “Restrict Sensitive Content” option to protect its young users. The platform’s content guidelines broadly define “sensitive” as media that is sexually suggestive, contains moderately suggestive language, features sexual content in varied forms, mentions individuals known for their work in the adult industry, violence, self-harm, animal cruelty, disturbing imagery, depicting of alcohol use and gambling, hate speech, terrorism, etc.

It’s a broad category and the enforcement boundaries are constantly evolving, but the core objective is to keep children safe. The protection applies on content appearing on Stories as well as Spotlight. Here’s how you can enable the sensitive content filter on Snapchat:

  1. Open the Snapchat app and go to the Settings page.
  2. As you land on the Settings home page, scroll down and tap on Family Center.
  3. On the next page, tap on “Restrict Sensitive Content.”
  4. Now, enable the toggle next to the option that says “Restrict Sensitive Content” on the next page.
